Lucas!! All you need to know and more!

I explained to my flying instructor once how Lucas Electrics worked, and laughed his arse off. He is an electrical engineer.

All that is said is true about the electricity being conducted by smoke. For a few years I would occasionally get the odd puff of smoke would come out of my indicator switch, when indicating a right turn. Then one day lots of smoke came out, then the smoked stopped and my indicators no longer worked. I installed a new switch, which was completely filled with smoke I would assume, and then I had indicators again.

Intriguing but true :D however not all systems are based on Lucas, it should be noted that american systems seem to be different this can be seen on television programs such as Startrek where even the most simple electrical activity ie shooting up aliens or going to warp speed in a solar storm will induce clouds of not smoke but sparks and fire and the need for fire extinguishers. So I guess Lucas systems cant be too bad, your car gets full of smoke and thats your lot, with american systems you run the risk of the whole car catching fire

American cars electrics dont catch fire!
They EXPLODE IN A FIREBALL at the slightest hint of a fault!!

You must have been watching The Dukes of Hazard film on Friday night !
