Good job it's a '1' on the number plate and not a '4.'

Ok I'll get my coat 8)

The funny thing about that is they did have a 4KUE aswell it was one of the maroon ones, I think it was Roger Clark's car.

Regards Colin

WOW - Good thing you had your camera

As for number plates - over here I have seen several cars with FKQ as the first 3 letters! I'lll try to have a camera with me for the next time

We have a few running around here starting with R8, including R8 GUD, which I thought was right good. Pronounced 'Rate Gud' in South Yorkshire.

There is however, a poor unfortunate with R8 CNT driving around in a merc.

I wonder if he is aware?

There's a few really good plates out there a local farmer went through a bit of a messy divorce & bought H8 HER for his fourtrak, but then you get rubbish like K888THY which the owner seems to think says Kathy for example, those ones really annoy me, sorry if any of you have one like that but it's just a pet hate of mine.

Anyway back on subject it would be nice to think that 1KUE is the real thing, it looks in quite reasonable fettle aswell. I would love to own a real piece of motoring history like that

Regards Colin

According to my main source, 1 KUE is one of the most original P6's around, it is still on the original base unit and apparently has history tracing it back to pre-production. Obviously panels have been replaced (I thinks it's having some new doors at the moment), but considering it's a rally car that gets used properly, it's in good shape.

I had the camera with me because I went to take a picture of this....

No not my annoying son, but the just-landed '54 coupe de ville. mmmmmmmm !

That's nice to know :D you couldn't really expect any car that age to be 100% original & in fact I dont believe for one minute there is such a thing as a completely original car out there, apart from a new one that's just rolled out of a showroom.

I once saw a Mk1 Cortina on ebay & it was advertised as 100% absolutely original so someone asked him has it still got the genuine Ford air in the tyres?

The other classic case was someone I met years ago at the much missed Lotherton Hall Rally  who's P6 was 100% original yeah right  gloss black engine bay, chrome better than it left the Rover factory, dont get me wrong it was a stunning car but why spoil it by saying that????

All of my P6s have had gloss black engine bays.

What colour should they be?

" No not my annoying son," - what's he done ? Refused to get his hair cut ?

Does he wear a hair net when near any rotating machinery ?

Yes as Mad Dan pointed out they should be satin black but on this car you could see your face in it, "not a pretty site" I hear you say  well how dare you!!!!

Ah I see.

I thought you meant it shouldn't be black, but you meant it shouldn't be a high gloss. I am easily confuzzled sometimes. :?

I was thinking of using this stuff - http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp? ... k%20(473ml

Aye it seems to have a good reputation I wish I'd known about it before I painted everything under the Wolseley ah well you live & learn

Yes he frequently refuses hair cuts, he had it "trimmed" for the start of the school year in september, the hairdresser took about 1/4 inch off it, that's all he would let her do !

Kids eh !, funny thing is, loads of them have hair like that around here, must be trendy or something :?
