knocking is now fixed!!

the knocking and groaning on my nearside of my series 2 v8 is eliminated

a new steering side rod,and a shocker has transformed it..

oooooooooooooooooo its soooo smooth

thats how i feel

on a downer now..dont think my car is arctic white after all
my touch up seems a bit red... my car is yellower,,

arrrgh

Speak to Pilkie- he's probably the one to ask to find out. I seem to remember reading some posts of his last year when he was deliberating over which shade of white to go for, so he should know them all inside out!

(PS: Photos of those carpet bits are on the way to you. Am not at my home computer at the mo, but will get them to you later tonight.)

much appreciated..i had some samples of new but none seem to match
appreciate the help#

as for paint.it was painted in lechler ( brand of paint)arctic white- the celly i got mixed today for the blow in on boot is shocking.
(car was poo tobaccoey leafy ,gusset stain brown)

Unless you have a full history, you will never know if it has been repainted in the past, and if you know for sure it has,ie if original was def tobacco, then there are sooooooo many shades of white, god knows what it would be called.
Paint makers all mix to various codes,so shades may differ.
Davos was a bit grey for me,Artic not crisp enough and later Pendelican is creamy.
Before I went for the full repaint,I looked at 100's of colour swatches,to try and match, but due to the years, sun and polishing the paint had faded it,so in the end I went for what I believe it had been painted with in the mid 90's and that was std Ford diamond white.
AND!! It is EXCELLENT!!!
Black for the sills is easy, either go satin or gloss, mine were huntsman brown whch is hard to find a common modern code for,so I got the best match I could.
Touching up will always be difficult to match on an old car,due to fade and wear, you could always take a sample panel to a place with one of those spectrum analyser gadgets!!

the car was brown but only one original brown panel remains,
rest were good used or new old stock
makes me sick cos wen i was a bodyshop /paintshop foreman,i mixed and tinted my own paints

now im out of the trade as such ,im relying on some spanner jockey matching it up,,sadly most leave a bit to be desired
gonna leave a color sample with autopaint tomorrow,,see if i have any joy..

thier excuse is cellulose never matches to 2k..
i said nothing,,tho i know this is a lie......
