KMK 586P - Pronounced Dead

My 2200 SC Auto, died at some point in the last 10 years during a long, child induced lay-up. I got her in 1993 when my gorgeous girlfriend (now wife and mother of said kids), bought her for me for £400 for a 21st birthday present.

We had lots of fun times in her and she even served as out wedding carriage (still retaining some confetti under the back seats to this day).

The day will soon come when she is dragged out of the garage on the way to be recycled, where hopefully some of her donated parts will live on in other P6's!

I'm 40 this year and was planning to get the car back on the road to enjoy with the family this summer...

Bye bye KMK 586P - we'll miss you!

Mart
PS (The Mrs has promised to buy me a new one!)

Hi and welcome...

Is it just the engine or is it rotten?

If by Nick you mean Nick dunning then I'm sure he'll give the right steer on it :)

Rich.

What ever happened to " We can rebuild him make him faster stronger" 6 million dollar man thing  if you had 6 mill  or universal solder and life after death, Rovers are made of sterner stuff and like Arnie and his "I'll be back"
Oh well sad days for one Rover, but as others have said organ donation is a wonderful scheme and potentially profitable.

Hi and welcome Mart, I'm sure with Nick's help you'll find another and any salvageable parts will live on.....

Yes it's Mr. Dunning - bizarrely on the way to an Easter Egg Hunt at the local country park, the Mrs spotted a 2000TC for sale - could this be destiny we thought? But on closer inspection and keeping a cool head, we decided to pass :).

As for KMK - she went rotten in the sills and the engine is probably siezed, just not economical to revive. Will post a pic of her in former days if people are interested?

Cheers

Oh that's such a shame, one of the rare (er) ones too. What's shocking for me is that if this was Friday, and you're in Kent, it would have been me doing that diagnosis had an ebay P6 not been cancelled.

Cheers, and all the best to finding a better one. Adam.

Martin's 2200 really isn't going to come back to life without an extremely illogical amount of cash injection, it's a great shame, but she's had a very good innings (nearly 120k on the clock). However what looks like a major amount of road salt over the years has taken it's toll and I put my fingers through the sills under the carpet and the engine is seized. Start adding up the costs and there's no sense in it.

Martin would like a decent 4 cylinder auto to replace the car, and if anyone's got something nice loitering please pipe up!

Very sad as Martin's kids had a wonderful time with the car on Friday.

aww. that's a shame but at least there's another one going to be heading their way soon enough :)

Here is KMK in happier days:

Notice the interesting interpretation of Lunar Grey that the guy who sprayed her did! :D

Cheers

At least you have some good photos :)

Are the sill covers missing there or are my eyes playing tricks?

I see what you mean. It does look like the cover was off - don't remember that it was when I took this one in the late '90s. I did replace once, can't remember which side though :)

Trick of the light maybe?
