Insurance company problems

You need a P6 expert like Colin to report to them on that, rather than an assessor who isnt an expert on the structure of the marque!
Is it surface rust he has seen or extensive structural rot?
If the latter then they have a point,as it wasn't roadworthy even if it has got an MOT!
As it is up to the owner to maintain the car in a roadworthy condition at all times!
Maybe after some negotiation you will either get the full cost or agree a 50/50 payout!
Insurance companies will do what it takes to find any small reason to get out of paying out for a repair!

Hi,

Well you asked for views

Since your first post on this matter I have to say I've been a tad confused as to why you’re getting your insurance company involved in a "minor repair" from an incident when no one else was involved. I’m not sure how your insurance is structured but does it not have an access?

To exist Insurance companies must take in more money than they pay-out, as they are not a charity, in my experience in cases like this what they pay-out for your repair they are very likely to claw back off you in the years to come.

If it was me, and I’m by no means made of money, I’d just get it fixed by someone you trust for the few hundred pounds you indicated it might cost and move on, keeping the insurance company out of it. But maybe that’s just me!!!

Please remember you did ask

There's at least three of us 8)

And me... :)

If you want to approach your insurer, have a look at this thread first: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6522

I made a claim according to my insurance company's records (I didn't), even though it was nothing to do with me

Also, beware of 'specialist' insurers; mine priced repairs up as per a Ford Mondeo, & said all cars lost value, especially when not made anymore (E - type for under a few grand, then  )
