i would feel sorry for this guy

Think this is one of my first memories of a Rover p6.

The absolute first being my Dad's Corgi 2000tc with a spare wheel you could change over.

Is it just me or did anyone else momentarily visualize the minister responsible for the scrappage scheme being the unfortunate passenger in that P6? you're right though, shame about the car,

I was wondering what the NCAP rating was on the P6 as he semed to have a lot of trouble closing the door after the crash.

I was envisioning the head with white hair and black eyebrows. :)

If you've ever seen all of Lock, Stock & 2 Smokin' Barrels, the 'head guy' definitely deserved all Vinnie (actually the P6's door) dealt him there! The car (several cars unfortunately) didn't deserve what they got but hey, I'm (we're?) biased! You can apparently buy models of Guy Ritchie's movie car & characters if you're interested enough. To that end, the cars sacrificed in the making did their part towards P6 education, so a shame? of course yes, pointless? - dunno.....

On a more technical front, ever compared the satisfying P6 door 'clunk' to that of most modern vehicles? You must have! First time I closed INBD's doors I had to do it several times to recall what a real car should/used to sound & feel like. Anyone got an mp3 of a smart-car door closing? - probably sounds like a small fridge. My truck doors do "clunk" when anyone closes one - it should with curb-weight at over 3 tons but you know what? - it's just not anywhere as satisfying at all. I can't wait to roll-up at work in a real car, slam the door, be happy no-one's head will mess up the interior & do my bit to help spread the good word. Some day.....

There is no need to slam a P6 door.

It will close just by letting it go on a flat surface (once it has overcome it's spring catches that is). Now thats impressive agaisnt new cars.

And never try to slam the boot lid as you can break your speaker cone by doing so :)

Point taken there Quattro, although I think Vinnie's character might disagree. Once my doors are re-united with the shell, I'll be sure to handle them with kid gloves.

Having just re-read what I posted, it almost sounds like I am telling you off  Sorry if I came across that way, it was not intended :)

Vinnie used to play football for our local team (I may have made that up as I know nowt about football)

Ah,
so it isn't just me who has a thing for the sound of a P6 door closing, there was me thinking I just had to get out a bit more. ever since I was a nipper I've always remembered that sound, even when I managed to close my fingers in one when I was about 6 or 7, although I don't think the sound or quality was the first thing on my mind then. Still at least I didn't manage to shut my head in the door.
