Hi there new dude on the block.

Hi everybody, new here hope to learn some new stuff about the P6B as i have just brought one.
So far i have had a steep learning curve, 4 speed took all the teeth of third, after i sent the poor
old girl around King Edward Park hill climb in Newcastle, which she finished third in class.

Just finished Newcastle Variety bash 3000 klms, in which it ran perfect, since fitting a T5 out of a falcon.
but just last Sunday it broke the diff input shaft, but imm told there a fuze anyway,
So now imm going to attempt to fit a VY commodore complete rear, which is a full independant rear to fix that, and give
the car an LSD with 3.46 ratio, so i'll take everyone with me on this one, with lots of pics
and all the dramers that are bound to happen. :) sorry for spelling mistakes.

Hello "New Dude"
From the cut of your speak , I reckon you would have to be a man from Oz .
Those beggars up north way wouldn't know what a commodore is :let alone a falcon , so you are going to have to talk slower for them to understand !!
Did you manage to get some pics of your marauding P6 whilst in the throws of the hill climb ?
Welcome aboard , you sound like an action man .There are a few "action men " on here , and even more with the " knowledge " that can help you sort your P6.
Gerald

Hi Gerald, thanks for the heads up,yes from Aus sorry i only just found the forum yesterday when googling on who has played with diffs.
Havent had time to read any posts, now i have, ill slow down a bit, looks like a lot of smart cookies on here and some great looking cars,
The hill climb is on you tube under Mattara hill climb the rover, my first time ever doing it, can tell ya was only P6B in it,what a great car.
Can you help me with pics, do i have to create a link to up load, imm car guy, not a url but learning.

Had a look at your effort on youtube - Very relaxed style you have .
Looks like the P6 handled the ride up the hill rather respectfully
I was totally absorbed .
You may like to check out the Bygone Autos rover P6 having a play as well on youtube .
Mal Clark is the owner driver and a local guru who has fixed my P6 a few times when Ive got out of my depth .

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum. :) It's great to see another Aussie. There are a few of us on here, so one day it would be great to all catch up. Are you going to the National Rove in Forbes in September?

It is easy to spot from the glare in your photo and in the video that you're in Australia.

Like the sound of your intentions, so look forward to seeing photos and reading updates as you progress.

Ron.

Yeah thanks mate, didn't know about Forbes think ill have to put it in Callander, had heard about upgrade for diff input shaft, but think ill just go for the swap and be done with it.

you don't play with rotaries as well do you? Just that someone on a Mazda forum has the same username and is from NSW too.

where'd you find the T5 gearbox adaptor? How'd you find the conversion bits (like a clutch pedal?)

nice work on the hillclimb!

No mate that's not me, wish I had, rotaries are all the go now. They make serious HP, back in my day they couldn't keep apex seals in them. Poor Alan Moffet found that out.

I was lucky the car already had a oridginal 4speed in it, I rang Dello in Sydney he made the bell housing, supplied the clutch fork, spigot bush, release bearing holder, I used a ford T5 out of an EA lower 1st 2nd ratio, plus can pick em for 200.00 bucks. Didn't have to adjust tunnel much to fit it in,more around slave area just to clear when clutch depressed.
Best money I have ever spent 120 kph 2000 rpm 5 th gear. Now just to sort that fuze of a rear end out.

Hi,

We went the Jag IRS route http://p6v8.wordpress.com/ really transforms the car for competition use.

Thanks, Tim
Hi Tim
Thanks for the link, looks like its works 100 times better than the old set up, imm going with a VY commodore IRS because here in Aus there everywhere
and parts are dirt cheap, only problem will have to run 15in rims to get around calipers, commodore rim off set will make clearing every thing on front ok.
But as always untill the fat lady sings and the car is driving down the road any thing can happen.
Catch ya later
David.
