Hello from Alberta Canada.
I'm just starting restoration of a 1970 2000 TC. This car was bought in left hand drive configuration in London UK before being brought over to Canada by the previous owners parents. The Car was driven until about 1979 and parked for 5 years. The previous owner then got the car running and started to collect parts and panels. He drove it until 1986, when he had the heads removed for reconditioning and conversion for unleaded fuel. The head was never put back on. Engine and gearbox will be pulled soon for inspection of the bottom end and parts replacement as required, then the rest of the engine will be put right. There are a few dents to be pulled before respraying. I'm torn between the original Arden Green, or the Zircon Blue colour my Dads 1970 2000 TC was. Both colours suit the car well.
All rubber is in need of replacement including suspension bushes. Anyone have any comments on poly bushes?
Here are some photos.

Hello,

Gee the interior looks nice. :D Modern cars just don't have that essential ingredient,...real class that your Rover has in abundance.

I have no experience with poly bushes, but I have heard that they can be hard riding and squeeking is not unknown. Another P6 owner who is using them will hopefully let us both know.

Ron.

I agree that interior really is nice, and the floor looks to be in very good condition.
Have those seats been re-trimmed at some point ?

Thanks for the welcome!
The seats are vinyl, ambla I guess is the correct term? They have held up quite nicely. There is no evidence of previous refitting. In the photos that follow, only the backs of the rear seats have dried up and split.
It may be a bit of a challenge over here to find the correct vinyl to repair them with. I might fix with a material of a close color match and look for some leather seats.
The floors are in good shape with no rust through and only small ares of surface rust. It may not be evident in the photos, but there is some upward denting on the right hand side floor. Some previous "rally" driving perhaps? Do I need to cut out and replace theses areas, or can they be flattened with a hammer and dolly?

Hi that car looks like it has bags of potential it looks so solid, I cetainly wouldn't go cutting lumps out to get rid of a few dents in the floor  just hit it with a hammer after all it's hidden by the carpet anyway

Regards Colin

Got some very nice bits on that.

I like the Steering wheel and gearknob - and that interior is very good.

I would go for the hammer and dolly on the floor, depending on how bad it is.

Looks solid enough though 8)

Those seats look very unusual with the inserts. Never seen any like that before
Looks like it could be a very nice car without too much work

The inserts are a basket weave style. Some better pics below.
I have come across this on another 1970 2000 TC for sale in Canada. See http://www.roverclub.ca/potts.html
Perhaps this was a NADA style?

Some new pics of my Federal 2000 TC
I have done about 200 miles on the newly rebuilt engine which was overbored to 2200cc. Pertronix ignition added, New brake master cylinder new clutch slave cylinder, all calipers rebuilt, new dual brake servos.
New dedion boot and front shock bushings. I have purchased new NOS fenders, and have new rubber for almost every area imaginable. I still need to find front quarter window seals.
Having lots of fun tinkering and driving. I have the carpets out for the time being until I can get some sill welding done late summer or early fall.
