Sorry if its been asked pre me, but how many of you are into your football here?

I saw a thread about Aston Villa just now and it got me wondering.

Me, im Dagenham born, Dagenham bred, which means i should support West Ham.....nah thanks, im Dagenham & Redbridge through and through. Such is my dedication, that in 2 hours time i am leaving to drive to Torquay for tonights game, and heading back here straight after as i have to be up for work at 6 on Wednesday morning. Something tells me im not going to be very awake in the office...

I would rather watch 2 snails having a race up a steep hill that watch football!
Each to their own though!

Hi,

Football is, in my opinion, an awful game to watch, It’s great to play but, again in my opinion terribly dull to watch. It seems to rely almost exclusively on poor or dubious referring decisions to create excitement. Modern (simple) technology can be employed to correct this but the powers that control football choose not to do this as I think they understand that incorrect or questionable decisions are needed to generate interest. It’s my experience that the football supporters here at work seldom discuss wonderful periods of play, they tend to focus on things like “that was never a penalty” or “the ball never crossed the line” etc…. In my opinion the fundamental game isn’t “good enough” to survive, at its current level all, the decisions being correct.

The behaviour of players follows a similar argument; the lack of respect shown to refs etc… is appalling and again could be stamped out very quickly if the desire was there to do it. This lack of respect is “sold” under the guise passion, enthusiasm etc…. but in my opinion it’s none of these. Again the powers that control football could sort this out but choose not to because it helps support the tribalism football needs.

My 2P’s worth anyway and I’ll shut-up now :)

^^^WHS^^^

Except that I don't have any desire to play it either.

I'd rather watch Eastenders and I f***ing hate that !

Footballers these days prove that money doesn't buy class - all it means is that they can strut around saying "do you know how I am ?" whenever they are challenged

Well Daggers, I must confess to being a lifelong ManU fan  - couldn't really support anyone else coming from Kent now, could I?
Used to go and watch the Gills in my youth - still do occassionally when I get some spare time, though that's getting less and less the older I get

Christ i'm tired. Twelve hours on the road for a 0-0 draw. Cracking.

Lots of football hate here i see!

I dont think people seem to understand that not all football players are overpaid premadonnas. I support Dagenham, tonight i was one of 48 away fans in Torquay.

Thats FORTY EIGHT.

Gonna shell out some wages on figures like that eh...

Ok let's get the laughs out first........

I'm a Scottish football supporter (some might say that Scottish football is a very loose description for what we play and I'd have to agree)

Of course we realise that not all players are overpaid primadonnas however they are the ones we get bombarded with day after day, not just through their sport, but also their personal lives. Personally I don't care!

Football is a great sporting event to watch live, especially when it's your own team (come on the Dees :D ). I watch it on tv if it's my own team or country playing, but you can't beat being there for the atmosphere.

I prefer rugby these days and regularly watch Edinburgh play at Murrayfield. I'll also be there for the Calcutta Cup in a couple of weeks.

Actually I can't wait for the World Cup, it's great, all the DIY shops are empty whenever there's a match on !

Only watch the stuff England play in. Don't have time to follow a team. Although I do keep an eye on Pompy and Southampton as they are close and chelsea as they were the team I had to support when at school. ;)

I like playing inpromptu kick abouts though. :)

I'd like to add my congratulations. Sounds like it was pretty momentous.

There's certainly a 'Classic Cars and Football Don't Mix' feeling.

All my major car friends have no interest in football at all (barring Angie, our Chairman, who's very partial to a game, and with whom I'll be watching the first England world cup game).

I'm on my own in being a ardent Villa head, for my sins.

Cheers
Nick

football ruined my knees!
i enjoyed playing it but i was crap!
i drive my p6 to cricket every week now
it sort of fits in with the village cricket scene somehow and people want to talk about it rather than football where on away games i'd park a way away so as to keep my car in one piece!
still follow saints though!

Hmmm,..... I think I worked that one out :D

I have a football shirt I bought through eBay that says, "ROVER"...... when Rover sponsored Aston Villa. :)

Now, if you're talking ICE HOCKEY....... Go Canucks!
