Engine wont rev above 3000rpm

Does anyone out there have a workshop manual they are able to read? In it you will find the fuel flow figures under either the carburettor or fuel pump section. Probably the latter. If you could post the figures listed on here that would really help Duane out...Unfortunately all my P6 manuals are in abox behind twenty feet of other boxes two and a half hours drive away so i can't do it myself...
Thanks

I have never found anything in the specs regarding fuel pressure or flow. These are critical figures in injected systems, and pretty easy to test, especially flow rate. The 928 was 75psi max pressure, and 1360cc/30 secs flow - K-jet. Most Rover injected systems run at ~40psi, but dont know the flow rate , which is a test of the pumps performance.
Correction - pump pressure is listed as 3.5-5.0 psi, no flow figure. I run a Huco 133010 in the engine bay, no problems up to120kph, or steep climbs.

There is a rough formula for the fuelling requirements of an engine.
Flow in CC per minute = BHP x 4.7

So for 150bhp this = 705 cc per minute at WOT plus a bit for a safety margin.

The testing procedure for a stock mechanical pump would be, ensure the carbs are full of fuel, with the aid of an assistant disconnect the fuel supply pipe at the first carb, extend the pipe into a 5 litre measuring jug, start the engine and run for 1 minute, measure result.

For electric pump, same method but just turn on ignition.

This will tell you if the carbs are getting adequate fuel.

Hi Guys,

Just an update...I think I may finally be getting somewhere.

Now have the car running quite well it would seem. Engine seems to pick up well after a mate had another fiddle with the carbs. I think I have found the cause of the tapping top end too, having dismantled the RHS rocker assembly and found excessive wear. I will replace both rocker assemblies and hopefully the noise will be fixed. That might also be affecting performance if the rockers aren't opening valves fully.

I now just have to get the transmission guy to fit the tiny retaining plate that was missing from the valve body when he rebuilt it. It retains the throttle/kickdown valve spring and for some reason wasn't there when he took the trans apart. Stupidly he didn't tell me that until I had the box back in the car and advised him the kickdown wouldn't work. "Oh I wonder if that retainer was actually needed" he said. "You'll never find one of those" unless you can source another transmission". I found a transmission specialist in the UK who sourced one for me for 20 quid, so I'm waiting for it to be fitted. I am convinced that the lack of a properly working throttle valve will also be affecting performance as the trans doesn't seem to change down at the right time as the revs and speed drops. I can literally go round 20mph corners still in top which can't be right.

Thanks for all the ideas and help to date guys. This forum has been an absolute goldmine and easily the best resource out there for Rovers.

I'll keep the updates coming, but hope that the next one will advise that all is tappety-boo so to speak,
