Drive Your Classic To Work Week - 6 to 14 September

Wish I could take mine to work rather than the works van. My gf takes the 1996 216 coupe to work most days. I need to tell her about the week.

Just make sure that you are correctly insured for commuting, i know many policies exclude that.

My 1971 white P6V8 "The Boss",being the most modern car I own,has been my everyday reliable daily driver for the last 14yrs. :)
But as I am now semi-retired,and also self employed doing whatever p/t work I find to earn a few extra quid,he is also now my company car!
In which case,I am going to give Ardy the S1P6V8 a bit of a drive about, and if there is no rain in the air,Sid the TR6 will come out for a few blasts as well,, 8)

At work, and brought here by Sparky. Although I must admit that it's not just for 'drive your classic to work week,' as he does bring me to work quite often 8)

I would, but for two things; not taking a manual around the M25, and don't trust my clutch around the M25 during rush hour.

That said, saw a very nice looking P5B on the London-bound segment of the M3 this morning :)

poor sleipnir is still sitting in disgrace on the drive. Apparently the new hole saws are on their way. I hope september is the month. Not done many miles this year.

I will celebrate the drive a classic to work week by giving my classics a rest  as they get used every day.

Since I don't work any more ( except very rarely ) I couldn't fulfil the strict obligation, so I pressed my S1 TC into family service to see our new grandson , and we did a round trip of 440 miles at an average speed of just under 60 mph with a fuel consumption of 31 mpg . What I can't understand is why the consumption is so much better than that of the SC I had in 1965 which never did better than about 23 mpg

That is very easy to answer, Christopher. You were a young man in 65 and you drove like a young man :D.

Now you have the experience to drive so as to get the best from your car - I know my dad, 74, would get significantly better mileage out of any of my cars than me.

It's also possible that fuel technology has advanced in the last 50 years.

I'm averaging around 32mpg from my SC at the moment. That's on a weekly commute of around 350 miles. I really do think that the more you run them the better they get :D

I'm fortunate enough to work from home most days, but yesterday I had to take a trip up to our warehouse in the Peaks so I went in EMF.

Here's my boss trying out his new jacket, bought for his trip to Goodwood this weekend.
