Cheap compressor kit

If you are still stuck, go to Fleabay and look in the aircraft tools section, alternatively look around for aviation tool suppliers in UK, there should be lots about.

But would the Aldi spotblaster be better on blackheads ?

Does Clearasil really work on rust ? I know Coca Cola does

Well i bought a compressor and a set of air shears to start with only to discover that neither actually comes with a hose...

I notice on their site they have a regulator which does come with hoses. I intend to use it for occasional spraying at some point in the future but given my current bodywork-centric car situation I was wondering do i need to worry about the regulator or should I just get a cheap airhose from elsewhere ( which seem to be around £7?). Was thinking also about an air wrench or impact wrench in the near future to speed up general operations!

(My knowledge of air tools is poor obviously ;) - what is the difference between a normal wrench and an impact wrench???)

Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich,

An impact wrench applies repeated shocks to the nut/bolt to jar it loose. Or to tighten it to immense torque figures like they seem to do in the Kwik-Fits of this world.

If you get stuck at any time, I've got hoses and fittings you're welcome to have a loan of.

Thanks - much appreciated!

I'll just get myself a simple hose to run the air shears for now i think and just a normal wrench - i can always tackle difficult nuts with the 18 inch breaker bar i bought for doing the heads!

No worries Rich, any time.

Also a 24V impact wrench here that'll do 220 lbs ft...great for crankshaft bolts! :D

great for crankshaft bolts

hopefully i wont be touching that for a while but could be useful! although when i started PAE at the weekend it did have a slight misfire and some white bits floating in the coolant so I'm guessing being laid up when it was so very cold hasnt done it any favours... Now if anybody knows a way to pinpoint which head to dismantle for a head gasket leak i'd be very interested...

Thanks I guess that makes sense... I only did them last autumn ( less than 500 Miles ago) ...

If you take the spark plugs out the cylinder with the water leak will have a cleaner plug than the others

If it's head gasket you only need remove plugs from cyls 1,2,7 & 8 as they're the only ones with a water jacket next to them.

Looks the same as my Aldi compressor
One design fault is that the drain top is not quite at the bottom of the tank so you have to tip it up to drain off all the water
Strange, that .Otherwise not bad for what it cost

im tempted to get one of these, wonder whether id just be better holding out for a decent one on ebay as i dont 'need' one now!

All depends what you want from it. Fine for some tools.... I have a wrench and schutz sprayer and they're fine...
