Cheap 3500 3500S sensor type front brake pads.

Hi, Haha leaving the quality aside, not much use unless you cut the wire off which
rather defeats the purpose.

There may be a very good reason why he has lots, and they are cheap, looking at that pic....

LOL!!.

Just trying to help guys - trust you two to spot that!.
I thought something looked slightly odd about them - but couldn't put my finger on what.
Now I see it!!.

I think I'll stop posting 'helpful' eBay links on here from now on....!

How many people are going to part with the money before finding out though? Hopefully they will find out when they try to fit them, and give up at that point, rather than the moment of blind panic when they've got their foot jammed on the pedal without the slightest hint of retardation.....

I can't believe I didn't spot that LOL

I assume he has drilled a little hole and glued it in himself?

Couldn't you just keep your foot on the brakes until the wire had worn away?

Yep, the wires, and the pad material. Should take about 3 seconds.

Well, it looks like we were all wrong here.
The seller of these pads was most upset that we had all questioned them on the forum, and went and opened up his entire stock!.

The manufacturer is FERODO, they are genuine EU manufactured items, very high quality and apart from the one set, all have the sensor wires in the correct place.
He sent me the incorrect ones FOC just to prove they are Genuine Ferodo pads, and I can confirm they indeed are. The batch number is different to the others though.

Experimenting on my car, it is possible to thread the sensor wire through past the caliper pistons and fit the incorrect ones, but it is very difficult to keep the wire out of contact with the disc, so I would not recommend it!.

So there we are, it just goes to show even Ferodo make mistakes!.

I'm not saying these are ,but there are problems with counterfeit car parts as with all things .
I agree, but these pads are definitely not counterfiet.
They are 100% genuine Ferodo, complete with Holograms on the boxes, and fitting instructions!.
If they were to counterfeit brake pads, I would think they would choose Ford Focus or somthing similar with rather higher demand.

If they are genuine I'm surprised if Ferodo don't want them back rather than on sale. Even small cockups like that will be seen by them as damaging their reputation.

There is no 'if' about it Harvey. Take my word, they are genuine Ferodo.
As I said before, they can be fitted, it's just a fiddle and I would not want to guarantee that the sensor wire would not come into contact with the disc.
So from that point of view, I would think Ferodo are happy that these are fit for purpose. How many of these pads are out there, who knows.

To be honest, the cheap nasty Chinese made pads, you know the ones that squeal like a stuck pig, do not tend to have proper heat resistant sensor wires, or decent quality plugs of the correct size, or the correct backing materials in my experience. I'm not taking specifically about P6 pads, just cheap pads in general.

Well if you agree with them, buy them and fit them then.

Already have, and baring the sensor wire they are fine, thanks!.

So you've never seen fake bank cards with holograms then?

Yes, but I've never seen anybody go to that length to 'fake' a few pads for a P6 Rover!.
I also have the experience and intelligence from many years of fitting on cars and heavy commercials to tell a good quality friction material from junk, so can we just agree to disagree on this occasion and move on....?.
