Anyone any experience with fosseway performence brakes?

Beside the brakes (before you start with the brakes, look on the threads of cobraboy and ? the guy with the Saab engine conversion), the site from Fosseway is really interesting.
Got this weekend my radiator back with a new socket for a temperature switch (for a Spal fan, saves power....) and now I see a replacement set for the otter switch here
That´s a real helpful thing.

SOWEN is his name.
That kit does look very nice, too. It's actually really funny (and depressing) that with the exchange rate falling on
it's face here in South Africa, that kit now costs 10 TIMES what I paid for my P6 back in '94....

I've used some re-drilled vented discs for a Vauxhall omega, coupled with a pair of alloy Outlaw 4 pot calipers (stainless Pistons) from the states. All for a fraction of their kit. Details in my build thread although I don't think I updated it after receiving the first pair of (unsuitable) calipers. I sold these and got a better condition pair with larger pistons. I'll do an update on my brakes soon, including hydroboost conversion

I've been thinking about the Fosseway ones, they do like the business :)

I think I would rather tell my insurance company that I have fitted a set of Fosseway performance front brakes, than I have re-drilled some transit discs and modified my front calipers myself.

I'm not saying it's wrong to modify them yourself and I tip my hat to both Corazon and Sowen who have done it, but they are both much better engineers than I am.

I may very well buy a set of the Fosseway ones in the Autumn so I'll let you know how I get on with them.

They do say you need 15" wheels to fit them BTW, did you know that?

The thing is that we want the car to be safe, because we want to do a 7 day classical rally with the car.
So, we want to upgrade things so whe have more chance to end the rally without any major problems.
Its a classical rally wich started this year in Italy and ended in Holland.
There was no Rover in it last years so we want to do it with the P6B.

Therefor, we want to do the brake upgrade.
Fitting a brake system from a different car brand can be an option, but I don't think the technical inspection will approve something like that.
So we need some thing that's is build professional, like the Fossaway brakes.

I hoped someone had some experience with these.

Is there an other option, that is readily available?

We need something that gives us a better brake performance and we don,t have to rebuild the complete car to install it.

Sorry, but what makes you think that the standard brakes will not be enough for your rally?
If you are not happy with the brakes of your P6B, the chances are that either they are not set up correctly, or that you have cheap pads fitted.
When the brakes are in good condition and with decent pads, they are more than enough for a standard car.

I thought the same. The rally is basically a timed road trip more than a competitive event I'm guessing. I've taken my car over the Stelvio and Gotthard passes and the brakes have been fine.

Same again,
Standard P6 V8 braking system in tip top condition more than good enough even for fast road use.
In my younger foolish days i could out brake my brother in his SD1 EFI with 4 pot brakes after a sprint between several roundabouts.;)

worth pming kman1600 and see if he has any advice. They do time trials in their p6 and have done a lot of modifications, and are pretty knowledgeable about what works and what doesn't in a competition environment.

True. One reason for upgrading the fronts in both mine and Simon's case has been to balance the front to rear bias when installing a Jag diff and it's large calipers. We both also have a lot more power and torque from engine changes.
If everything else is standard, you might be better off with just a different pad compound for rallying? Plus a general overhaul of the braking system with braided lines as a slight step up..

Hi,

With what we do with our car, when the brakes were standard, we often had to drive to the limit of the brakes, two things have changed this, use of Ferodo DS2500 pads on the front and the Jag conversion at the rear. The DS2500 pads are a proper Track/race pad and thus expensive compared to your average road pad but their performance is night and day different, they also work well from cold which many "high performance" pads don't, essencial for road use. Fitting the Jag diff, with it's bigger/better brakes, really should up how little braking occurs at the rear of a standard P6, this loads up the front brakes, since conversion the rear of our car is now doing it's fair share of the braking.

As a final note don't underestimate the effect of brake fluid quality... keep it fresh and buy good stuff :)

This is all largely what Jim ^^^^ said ;)

Does anyone have a current contact email address for Fosseway? I seem to have no response from the email provided on their website.
