Air-con Wiring Diagram... and now, Electric Windows.

hi,
the yellow tags have letters on them A through to J if i remember rightly, which correspond to the back of the two controls which have the same letters stamped into them, if you can not make them out it will be trial and error when you get it up and running as they work on vacuum.

Hi guys, I managed to figure out the lettering just and pipes in the tubes, thanks for the suggestions.

Tomorrow, I'll hope to fit everything in and see how it goes, I'll let you know. Might update the Member's Projects section in time.

Hello again, having most of this stuff all fitted now, I'm aware of a massive lack of power from my battery. As far as I am aware nothing is perminatly live, and everything bar the clock and ampeter (through alternator) is disconnected with the ignition.

Still, once the ignition is connected, the starter only just cranks then engine over, where previously it had been fine. I've suspected the battery was on the way out for a while now but with the added electrical equipment, am I going to need a more powerful battery.

Also, I'm not too sure I have the right battery in the first place, as it was changed over in a garage a good year ago to get the timing sorted. What's the rating for a standard P6 battery and if there are any uprated ones, what's the rating of those?

I always went for the largest battery that I could physically fit into the hole. That said, I don't know if anyone has really looked at electric windows and aircon in a 2000 before.. few aftermarket a/c fits, but I'm wondering if your alternator and battery need to be looked at?

Hi Fraser

That should just be coincidence. The additional electrical loads are intermittant for the windows. For the A/C you have a load from the electric clutch on the front of the compressor (small - otherwise you'd burn the clutch out!) and a load from the fan and relay when operating. This will be larger than the equivalent for a non A/C car cos the blower fan is bigger but ought to be well within the scope of the alternator. The primary duty for the battery remains starting the engine - once that is running the battery plays no part in proceedings as long as the alternator is in good order.

Hello,

I know this thread went a little quiet quite abruptly on my part. Its not that I'm not greatful of the support and help, its that I've been in my lab (garage) making a plastic insert for the blower switch on the NADA centre Console. Its been met with limited success, I can see I'm going to need to get hold of a replacement. I hear from Rover Classics, that they're a crossover part thats in Jensen Interceptors, of which I know nothing about.

It's now been trimmed down to fit better, however, its pretty difficult to replicate the manufacturing tolerances at home, so the question asked is, where can I source another one?

Hey guys, just a quick update, I've now sorted the wiring for both the electric windows and the blower motor.

Just like to thank everyone that helped me out and gave their advice so willingly, much appreciated.

Fraser
