Afternoon everybody,
hope this finds you all in good health.
I'm a recent joiner to the forum, and have finally found a couple of minutes to send you all greetings from sunny Chatham! (well, inbetween the showers it is)
I got my gorgeous '72 3500S back in April and am just off this afternoon to pick up an SD1 5-speed box to enable me to finish off the mechanical side of things before I fit all the pretty bits on to bring her to her former glory!
She's going to be used daily and not stored away for high days and holidays, and my 9 year old can't wait to be chauffered to school every day!
I'm eventually going to fit a webber and an lpg conversion will follow shortly after as I'm a bit of an lpg fanatic (anything that stops me putting my hard-earned into government coffers
Kind Regards to you all,
John

And a bright afternoon back to you - it's raining here

Wouldn't you be better off fiting the lpg system first?

The technology for the SU conversion has been tried and tested, but the weber system is really in its infancy although a few people are starting to say that they have solved it.

I know that RPI will sell you the kit with the SU conversion plates, and then when they have perfected the conversion system for the weber, they will buy the SU plates back when you buy the weber plate.

If that makes sense?

Welcome anyway.

What about some pics?

Here's a piccie as requested.

I've got the SD1 box home now. It's a later one with electronic speedo drive. Anyone know of an electronic speedo that I can butcher and put behind the original P6 one?

You should be able to replace the transducer with the mechanical driven gear from the early box, along with its sleeve, and use the P6B cable and just have the speedo head recalibrated.

I lived at Wye from 2000 to 2004, so Chatham feels almost neighborhood!
Welcome!

Thanks, I've found that from an MG website, but just fancied something different ( and not having to use a drive cable ). I'm one of those annoying people who like things to look standard, but underneath are that bit different - even toying with the idea of putting 2000SC badges on her just to demoralise the local GTi brigade

I 've heard of someone over here who put 1.4i badges in his Octavia turbo....
