2000 Factory Workshop Manual

OK so it's free info only here - sorry! While trawling Ebay earlier, I saw a 2000 factory manual going for what seems cheap with no bids as yet. It is in the US though so figure that in shipping if interested - ends 12/9 US - I guess very early 12/10 GMT. No relation to seller & I've got a 3500 so no need but was tempted to pick it up myself just 'cos you don't see too many reasonably priced ones or who may eventually need one.

I'm sure someone out there can use something better than Haynes so heads-up.

As far as I can see, the Haynes one is exactly the same. They must have bought the rights to the original. I could have saved myself 20 pounds had I known that a couple of years ago.

Sorry about that. Personally I have the 3500 Workshop, Haynes & even the Autobook manuals - don't ask why :D . Those are all quite different. Factory workshop manual is a brick, thick, heavy & quite comprehensive compared to the others so I had assumed the 2000 workshop would be similar & may be better value-add for those who may need one.

Thanks for the info Willy - at least now I won't go for it.

My factory 2000 workshop manual is a brick thick compared with Haynes and another one I have. All I can think is that Haynes must have doubled the size of their manual since I bought mine or the 2000 factory workshop you are referring to has shrunk or is a forgery.

Cheers

Have you actually compared any of the text or drawings though? My official manual is also much thicker than the Haynes, but when I checked both on a job I was doing, I found that the contents were identical. The official one is on thicker paper and has more blank sheets.

The haynes manual is an abridged version of the factory one, and haynes have copied the pictures. That is why they are the same.

The factory manual is a better manual, but the haynes one is useful if you cannot get one.

IIRC the P6 2000 Haynes manual has a picture (diagram) of the SC engine with two carbs on it, and visa versa. :? so watch out for mistakes.

And a picture of the reverse light switch with the whole view upside down, fine if the car is on its roof at the time I suppose........
