P6 V8 Starter or Solenoid Dead?

Thanks folks, connected a jump lead between body and block and it started up fine, so I checked the earth strap this morning and although it all looked ok at first glance when I gave it a wiggle it was clear that it had broken. These cars really are great, nice simple fix, lovely! Cheers Joe

P6 V8 Starter or Solenoid Dead?

Hello all, Our trusty family P6 was running like a dream last weekend, two big trips around the country, motorways and traffic and didn't miss a beat. Parked up at home for two hours then went to restart and just got a clicking sound - first thought I'd left something electrical on but a new...

    Rear brake overhaul-general advice

I have a similar question, I'm about to do both rear brake cylinders, discs and pads (and by the sounds of it any flexi hose I can). Whilst I need to do one cylinder I plan on doing the lot. Anyway, my question; I've been looking for a reason to buy some kind of car lift, not a 4post thing but...

    Sump Plug Sealant

Hi, Thanks for all the replies, it's all fresh and back together now. Had a slight problem with the filter though, Fram's PF25 had a much larger thread, not sure where i got the idea that was the correct one from (Fram website) so i went for a straight replacement with the PF8A, or Mann...

    Sump Plug Sealant

Hello all, I've just drained the oil out of my 3500, and with it (as well as draped around the sump plug) was the remnants of silicone type sealant - presumably the last time this was done (mechanics at last year's service) they put a daub around the plug when they put it back to prevent leaks...

    P6 MOT South London/Surrey/Kent Recommendations

Hi, It's coming up to that time again, we've owned our 'family car' for about 5 months and it needs an MOT by Mid May so I'm on the look out early for a good recommendation for garages that specialise in P6 or Classic Rover in general. We're based in Greenwich South East London, so anything...

    No Brake Lights!

Hi, I noticed on my drive into work today that I have no brake lights - at 7am it made for a very nervous, cautiously braking commute....woke me up more than the usual double espresso.... Anyway, workshop manual is at home (useful), and I need to drive back tonight - could anyone point me in...

    Series 1 Clock & Speedo (SD1 box)

Hi, I thought I'd start with the simplest question first: My clock no work....to be honest I haven't even unscrewed anything yet as it looks like I need a tiny short screwdriver to get the clock out and see what's not attached - but are there any common problems/fixes for these? And whilst I...

    New Member - London - P6, a Practical Classic!

Hello all, I'm new to Classic Rovers, but am a bit of a car collector/addict, and needed a practical 'family' car for the new arrival (first daughter, Riley, born on Xmas day!). Started looking at modern estate cars, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy something soul-less, so looked at...
