    Steering wheel

I want to remove the steering wheel for two reasons. One, the indicator actuating mechanism is erratic in its operation and, I believe needs its contacts cleaning. Two, the wheel is cracked in three places and I would rather like to replace it. I have got the centre piece off ok...

It's getting hot in here - Heater control

I found out why the wipers were defunct. The fuse was missing. Having replaced it, I find that I am unable to turn off the heater. That explains why the fuse was missing! The control rod for the heater appears to be siezed. It moves up and down with the control but feels like a solid rod...

Reverse thrust Scottie - A Borg Warner AOL production

Yes, mate. The gearbox on WOW has been changed and it was a fairly straightforward job. Nothing was siezed, nothing broke. Even the rusty old exhaust came apart with ease. If we'd read either of the manuals at our disposal it would have been even easier. Sadly, we read the bit which said...

    Got it!

Picked up my gearbox today. It's a tiny thing. I was lead to believe it was a big, heavy lump but it's actually quite cute. I got it from: http://www.classicgarages.co.uk/kingsdown The place is an absolute goldmine (and no, I'm not a shareholder). The geezer reckons he's got V8...

Where are all the BW35 boxes?

I'm getting a little impatient. I've made lots of enquiries, searched E-bay, been on to other sites but I cannot locate a replacement box for my motor. I'm now becoming resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to repair the one that's in there (although I'll have to take it out first...

    Sill repair panels

I'm a little confused. I'm looking to repair the sill(s) in my 1971 3500 auto. The Rover manual doesn't show an inner sill as such, presumeably because it is an integral part if the side frame. It then shows two channels, one running from the A post to the B post and a second running from the...

OK, there is some going back!

I put yet another 2 litres of ATF in the gearbox today and it does go backwards. There is a great deal of slip and accrid smoke starts to pour from the transmission tunnel after a short while. I can't tell if this is burning fluid or belts or what. Anyway, I managed to reverse it off the...

    Where has my sill gone?

After getting WOW 847J started yesterday I thought I would bite the bullet and removed the O/S sill cover. The rust has eaten away more than I thought but is confined to the wheel arch areas. The hole in the front floor appears to have been made by a jack as the metal was bent in towards the...

    There's no going back

I finally started working on WOW 847J yesterday, three weeks after purchasing it. I guess that's quicker than some. Anyroadup, after fitting new plugs, points (outrageously expensive), condenser, rotor arm, air filters, oil, coolant and a battery (from a Renault but it fits nicely in the box)...
