In answer to the original question, I was speaking to the geezer who sold me my BW35 who is a bit of an authority on the P6.
He said that you can use the Vitesse wheels but you also need the studs and nuts.
He also had sets of rostyles and minilites for sale and even offered me a set of...
Cheers geezer.
Steering wheel off, indicators sorted (scraped the verdigris off the contacts), steering wheel back on.
Ham fisted me managed to break the plastic switch gubbins surround by overtightening one of the four screws! Mind you, it was badly sun damaged anyway so I would have...
I want to remove the steering wheel for two reasons.
One, the indicator actuating mechanism is erratic in its operation and, I believe needs its contacts cleaning.
Two, the wheel is cracked in three places and I would rather like to replace it.
I have got the centre piece off ok...
One step forward, one back.
I found the intricate actuating mechanisms on the nearside of the heater box, applied WD40 and a pair of adjustable pliers and, Bingo. The levers all move freely and appear to be carrying out their respective mechanical duties within the heater box...
I found out why the wipers were defunct. The fuse was missing. Having replaced it, I find that I am unable to turn off the heater. That explains why the fuse was missing!
The control rod for the heater appears to be siezed. It moves up and down with the control but feels like a solid rod...
Yes, mate.
The gearbox on WOW has been changed and it was a fairly straightforward job. Nothing was siezed, nothing broke. Even the rusty old exhaust came apart with ease.
If we'd read either of the manuals at our disposal it would have been even easier. Sadly, we read the bit which said...

Picked up my gearbox today.
It's a tiny thing. I was lead to believe it was a big, heavy lump but it's actually quite cute.
I got it from:

The place is an absolute goldmine (and no, I'm not a shareholder). The geezer reckons he's got V8...

I've never seen any parts of a Jaguar which look remotely like an anorak. :D :D
Seriously though, am I not correct in thinking that both these 1964 cars should have B registration suffixes?
GOT ONE!!
I bought a copy of Practical Classics yesterday (should have done it weeks ago) and rang a few numbers from the ads. I was given another couple of numbers and bingo.
I'm picking it up on Saturday. The geezer assures me that it's fully functioning. It's a commercial sale so at...

I'm in South Hertfordshire, only four miles north of the M25.
Although York is a lovely place, I'd be reticent to travel that far!
Before I persue the BW35 thing, exactly how difficult is it to convert to a manual box. Of course, a clutch would be useful as well!

I'm getting a little impatient. I've made lots of enquiries, searched E-bay, been on to other sites but I cannot locate a replacement box for my motor.
I'm now becoming resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to repair the one that's in there (although I'll have to take it out first...
