Well, it appears to be the accuspark module dying. The fault seems to be on the -ve side of the coil. Waiting on a new one from Simon bbc. To add to my woes, now the front driver`s side brake caliper is leaking! No rest for the wicked..

Hi. My usually reliable Elegant Thirsty Dinosaur (75 3500) has started misbehaving following a bit of a lay-up. It was off the road for about 9 months. Now, there is an intermittent fault with the ignition. Large hesitations occur. They are abrupt and the tachometer jumps down to zero and back...

Thanks for all the responses. Sorry for my slow reply - I had forgotten posting this. With main beam switched on, just the inners are lit. Flashing the mains by pulling back on the stalk turns on all four. So main on the outers is not working. I converted the inners to halogen replacements...

A question for you all. When you switch to main beam (rather than just flash the lights) , should all 4 lamps be on? On my car, all four are on when I flash, but just two when I switch to main beam. Thanks

Cutting out at the lights sounds like it might be fueling related to me. I would recommend looking for vacuum leaks and a check of float levels and carb balance before panicking about the timing. Especially with the low mileage, I can`t imagine the chain would be too bad.

Thanks for the link, but that one is listed as not to fit the 3500. The threaded ferrule that should lock into the hole in the dash is too small. I found a 'universal' one on a Mini parts site and that didn`t fit either. Incidentally getting parts from the UK Is actually not too bad. As long...

Mine is my daily drive, but doesn`t get out of town much. Plus, there`s next to no traffic in sleepy suburban NZ, so heat has not been an issue. The good thing about the P6 is that it can stop and go like a modern, so it isn`t stressful to drive. I used to have a Spitfire 1500 as a daily drive...

Excellent exhaust set up. My first taste of mechanics was rebuilding a Lister D when I was about 12 - the pepperpot looks familiar! I can imagine having the torque lower down would be ideal. Are you going to alter the final drive ratio at all? Cheers

Hi Peter I replaced the stock worn 3.5 cam with a new 3.9 one, along with new chain and followers. I actually swapped a head over as well, to deal with some broken stud issues. Is it noticeably different? To me it is. Throttle response is better, and there is definitely more torque available...

Looks very good indeed. Great to see the hard work pay off with a quality end result. Where did you get the stickers from? I need the stickers for the pass side inner wing for a late SII v8.
