Paint ban --- appears not! - EU

FIVA (Federation Internationale Vehicules Anciens) have recently published an interesting report on the scale (i.e votes in politician-speak) of the historic vehicle movement in the EU. I quote one section from the FIVA report:- By working in conjunction with the EU, FIVA’s work has resulted...

    Fuse box - Replacing

I need to replace the fuse block in my 1974 3500. The repair and operations manual just says to disconnect the connections at the fuse block, but I cannot see how to do this. They do not appear to pull off, although I suspect that they are supposed to, but I am afraid of causing damage if I...

    Speedometer - Mystery

I recently installed a used Australian km/hour speedometer in my RHD UK specification 1974 Rover P6B automatic. Today I discovered that the odometer is OVER-reading distance by 16.8% and the speedometer is UNDER-reading speed by 14.4% (i.e. 0.856 of actual distance). There is a relationship...

    Rear springs - Replacements

Has anybody fitted J R Wadhams new rear springs to a P6 V8? I seem to recall somebody expressing reservations about those springs --- too soft or too short, I think. I searched the forum but I cannot find a topic on this. I'd appreciate any advice on the best place to buy new rear springs...

    Electrical maintenance - Lesson learnt

On January 14th my wipers and heater stopped working simultaneously while driving in rain. I discovered later that my heated rear screen had also stopped working. These three items receive their power supply in common from the ignition switch. There were no blown fuses. After testing I...

    Front bumper - 2000 fits 3500?

Hi everybody, Can anyone tell me if a Rover P6 2000 front bumper fits a P6V8? I suspect that the deeper radiator bulge on the V8 means that the four cylinder front bumper will not fit a V8 --- am I right? If it does actually fit straight on, will I be able to use my existing overriders on...

    Exhaust - Lack of cleaance

I fitted a new stainless steel exhaust from P D Gough Ltd to my 1974 P6B automatic last year. I was unable to attach a u-clamp to the joint on the right-hand downpipe where it passes under the sump because of lack of clearance (about 5mm available). I blew the original engine in 1990 and it...
