    Engine swap

Anyone know of any other engines tried in the P6 2000 Auto? I love my P6 and wouldn't want to change it or upgrade it to a V8 (I accualy want to be able to afford to drive it), however my head gasket is not in a good way and I would like a bit more bang for my buck and if possible more MPG. Am...

Just got back from Canada land where I've been hiding for the last couple of weeks. Won't be bringing my P6 as i can't get it booked into my sympathetic garage until the week after so I'll be bringing my Rover (BMW apparently?) 45, not a true Rover perhaps but its road leagal and moves...

    Boses

Here we go again, going back to the original post does any one know if a Land Rover boss would fit? They are 36 spline, anybody know how many splines on a P6 steering column? The Land Rover Series shares some parts with the P6 so I'm ever optimistic that we will eventually find a Mountney boss...

    East London/Essex meeting.... interested??

I Know its not Romford but the Halfway House on the A127/A128 junction is a popular spot for club meets. Its easy to get to from all directions so may attract more people.............like me. No offence chaps but I drive from Maldon to Chigwell most days for work and not sure if I'd summon up...

    East London/Essex meeting.... interested??

There is the club meet in Rochford/Hockley way, haven't made it yet but will be going once the car is. P.S. I bet you were thinking of the Halfway House. I used to go to the J29 meets there (VW forum as was) that was back in the days when I drove zie German automobiles.

    Rev counter wiring

You don't need to feed any wires, as "unstable load" says the wires are there behind the speedo. I have fitted the centre rev counter/clock to my 2000 and found the wires for the induction loop are linked out behind the speedo, the clock wiring is the same as the old one and I have doubled up...

    Bonnet stuck type problem

Yep 1.8 K series with 119K on the clock (a good few thousand of those are mine in the last few months). The head gasket had alread gone before I bought it and has been replaced. The guy I bought it from buys K series engined cars replaces the head gasket with the upgraded Lotus design, he has...

    Bonnet stuck type problem

Bonet stuck no more! I squirted a load of WD40 at the catches (and all over the engine as I found out later!), proped the bonet release up, bumped the bonet up and down a bit, gave it a yank and hey presto, open sesame. 8) It did make me realise how lazy I have been with this car...

    Bonnet stuck type problem

Thanks for your concern I did of course stop and check the fan belt was intact before driving the last 150 miles. The air con dosen't work as that would be a bit much to ask of a car I only gave £500 for with tax and MOT.

    Bonnet stuck type problem

This is not my P6 but my W plate 45. We took it up to Shefield from Essex and the alternator light came on about half way  . The car was coping fine so I carried on, once we got there I begrudgingly got a local garage to check and change the dead alternator. That was fine if a lot...

I'm after a matching set of something. I've got 2 series 1 and 2 series 2 on my series 2 2000. I would like something a little different but would be happy with 2 more series 2 caps for now. What have you got? Once I've got it it sorted I'll have 2 series 1 caps avaliable to anyone who needs...

    1976 2200tc

Sounds like it'll be a cracking car after a bit of work, I run my 2000 Auto as a rolling resto, unfortunatly I'm out of MOT at the moment. By back brakes need doing too, I bought the pads from Rover Classics http://www.rover-classics.co.uk/pages/contact/index.html a while ago and have now...

    Boses

Thanks pilkie, that would be great! :D I did send the boss back to Merlin who were very helpful. Before I sent it back I phoned Mountney to check there listing and they do have it listed as the MB033. I told both Merlin and Mountney that it does not fit the P6, I don't belive either company...

Did you find any conclusion to this? I too bought a Mountney wheel off ebay and am really pleased with it. Unfortunatly I bought a Mountney MB033 boss (the one listed for the 2000) of ebay that didn't fit, assuming that as it was a used part it was in the wrong box i bought another MB033 from...

    Rover 45 cooling stsyem

Thanks for your replies chaps. In answer to your questions the temperature guage stays stable (the fan does kick in and out to maintain temp as normal). I thought the valve could be faulty too so have removed the pipe to inspect it and can confirm it does open and close as it should. The...

    Rover 45 cooling stsyem

I know this is in the wrong place and not about a P6! But I need any ideas you may have so I've gone for maximium covarage! My P6 has poped its head gasket, needs some welding and some new suspension bushes. So I've taken it off the road and tucked it away in my dad's garage awaiting me to...

    Aftermarket steering wheels...

I've bought a Mountney wood rim steering wheel which looks great, if only I could get a boss to fit the car nad wheel that would be even better, 'cos I could use it then! Mountney specify their boss MB033 is the correct fitment for the P6 2000 and 3500. However having bought one of said bosses...

    Another paint colour question

The thought had crossed my mind to change the colour but in reality I don't mind the colour, I just like to call it vomit yellow as it amuses my tiny mind. I think it will look quite striking when its done. All the door shuts and doors are in really good condition too, so I've opted for the...
