    4.6 oil pick up

Thats what I assumed, but you know what assumed is the mother or all... Id spent ages looking over both blocks to compare and couldn't see any differences but wanted to be sure, having read up loads about the conversion (including yours!) Id not come across, or at least remembered, this until I...

    4.6 oil pick up

Hi Ron, Im using an SD1 timing cover that had been on my P6 already, trail fitted and looking good there. Just to be sure, so as long as I use a gasket and prime the oil pump, the pick up should work just by bolting it up to in the old position under the block? Sorry for the paranoia, really...

    4.6 oil pick up

Hi, Ive got a question for the folks who've done a 4.6 conversion. Im part way through and have found the oil pick up strainer on the GEMS 4.6 is mounted to the timing cover - on the 3.5 it was in the middle of the block. The 4.6 still has the older mounting so I can bolt the oil pick up...

    Crank pulley removal

That would be a wood for the trees situation - I was looking for for an access panel in that plate! I was expecting an opening the size of a beer mat

    Crank pulley removal

Thanks - I thought it might mean take the starter off, but really didnt want the extra bolts and hassle, and couldn't see a half moon plate, just a small opening on the side with no cover! Ill try whacking it and when that fails go for the starter

    Crank pulley removal

Hi, I hope this is a silly question with an easy answer, but Ive got my V8 on the floor with its BW35 attached and Im trying to get the timing cover off but am stuck on the crank pulley. Ive not worked on autos before, the book says to hold the crank by putting a screwdriver through the access...

    starter wires?

Thanks, the twin cable comes out of the loom at the block connector from the alternator, and is the right length, and the single comes from the same direction. I thought they did go to the starter, but didn't want to damage anything by connecting it up wring

    starter wires?

Hi, after taking the engine out a few months ago Im finally putting it all back, but foolishly didn't pay enough attention when it was coming apart (I thought I knew the engine bay well enough...) and have a spare cable. Does anyone know how many chunky brown wires go to the starter..? Is is a...

    Auxiliary drive cover removal

I don't know if Im alone in wanting to take this off - for those who call it some thing else, its the big casting that the distributor and oil pump sit on - but I need to get to a broken engine side plate stud behind it. Haynes dont mention it beyond an exploded diagram, which looks like just 2...

Didnt envy you queuing for Blackwall Tunnel

Lovely white S2 3500 with boot mount spare, stuck in the usual awful traffic on the A2 for the Blackwall tunnel this morning, not a regular. If you see a black 5 series touring staring and taking iphone pics itll be me. If it was you, move to the left lane after the first Greenwich exit as that...
