finally got my v8 on the road...went throught the mot ok but when i`m braking in the real world (not on the rollers) the servo stops working..brakes are ok at first then pedal goes rock hard as the servo stops helping, brakes still work but obviously more presure needed to stop...at stand still and tick over the brakes are fine so i guess i can discount the vacuum from the engine being at fault (have tried keeping the revs at 2k as i`m braking but the same thing happens) i rebuilt the servo with new seals about 2 months ago and everything was ok for about a week,,,,any idea??

I can't see what it could be apart from lack of vacuum
If you switch off the engine , how many times can you pump the brake pedal before it goes hard ?
Should be 4 or 5 times at least
I'd check the non return valve where the hose connects to the servo

Hey JD,

Check that the airvalve is screwed on properly. If that has a damaged gasket or the screws (under the platic ourter cover) are loose you could get just this problem.

right..think i`ve found the problem...i changed the non return valve and the air valve assembly and it made no difference...however...took the valve off the manifold end and it seems to be sticking...but i cant find reference to it in the haynes manual so dont know what i`m after or where to get it?...any ideas?
