Why is fuel coming out of this?

Hello Guys,

Engine and gearbox in (2200sc auto) so delighted!!!

Not so delighted about the fuel coming out of the carb from the bit pictured.

Any ideas??

See this from a previous posting.

That's actually the float chamber vent,under the alloy ID tag is a hole that opens out into the top of the chamber,some BL cars had a domed cover fitted with a leak-off pipe to divert fuel away from the exhaust manifold,
Fuel spilling out means the chamber is flooding and the likely cause is dirt/grit in the float valve preventing it from closing properly,
It's also possible that the float itself is punctured,

Spot on!! Load of crud on float valve stopping it shutting. Running well now, onto bleeding the brakes and sorting out air leak from servo next.......
