Why flashing brake light.

Silly question. Why does the dashboard brake light flash on and off quite frequently?. The brakes work perfectly, will stop on a tanner dead straight no squeals. The fluid level is up to the mark with no leaks. Even sitting at traffic lights in gear, handbrake off the red light flashes. Raise the revs a little and it goes out. Any Ideas?

Hi, Check and or adjust the switch on the back of the handbrake lever. Check that the cork still floats in the fluid reservoir and change if necessary, you will find a replacement in the top of a wine bottle. The light stabilising when engine revved may be a coincidence and just be the fluid vibrating and the reservoir switch is on the tipping point. If the fluid level is a bit low then check the pads, one may be worn down and the sensor wire is touching the disc intermittently.

Two things come to mind. Either a faulty hand brake switch (had that happen) or worn pads (layer cars have wear sensors that trigger the light.

Thank you. Will investigate.

Thank you. I have only recently purchased this car at auction. The previous owner said all pads had been recently changed I will investigate.
