White wall trims - another tastfull mod

Seen pictures of P6's with a white band round the tyre. I've seen an advert for Bravado Automotive in the back of mags, I understand its some sort of rubber band thats fastened to the sidewall. Anybody tried these ??

PS If your reading this, thanks to the guy who suggested Scimitar centres for my Wolfies, worked a treat but never answered your thread.

Next question, will anybody talk to me at shows if I fit Chrome side exhausts (semi seriouse this ), or is this a step to far ??? :p

HI Ron,
Thanks for replying to the lowering thread, hopefully someone will find an elegant (and easy) solution.
As for the white walls, I know nothing, but if you had chrome side exhausts I would make a point of coming to talk to you to make you start the car an blip the throttle! (as long as they were on both sides that is)
Also, I have noticed your interest in the alloy wheel threads, well I have good news the 16" Jeep Grand cherokee alloy wheel I purchased off ebay fits perfectly under the rear arches (quite a feat when you consider its 7" wide) Now before you all go out and buy them let me just say that I have not yet tried it with a tyre. I have ordered a Part worn 205/55 R16 which I will be getting fitted very soon when it is tested I will let you all know. It should be ok, the overall width of a 205/50 R16 (Off her indoors Saab 93) is not that much more than the ballloon like 185s on the P6, however the Saab has 6" rims which may pull the tyres in more than the Jeep 7s Like I said I will let you know
Cheers
Al

Hi Ron.In reply to your thread about whitewall bands on your
tyres forget those bands that fit under the tyre bead.I work
for ats and a friend of mine bought some and asked me to fit them to his Triumph Vitesse.I messed for hours trying to get them to seat properly and the tyre just pushing them out from the beading.Being in the tyre trade ive been told about
a guy up here in Blackpool that actually whitewalls any tyre. The way he does it is by 0.5mm from the sidewall of the tyre and paints hot white rubber in place around in as big a whitewall as you want.I think he charges £5.00 per
tyre.If you want any info let me know and i'll get his number for you.
John ???

In short whitewalls are naf, and look awful.
Chrome side exhausts on the other hand!!!! :p
Might have to fly over to see you if you go for the side exhaust thing, I am thinking of them for my new project. I am looking at stuffing a 4.6L quad cam Ford Cobra engine into a P6 along with a 6 speed Tremec gearbox! It will be a silly toy to race and compete in long distance rallies in, but I have to admit the idea of side exhaust is really appealing to me now!!
I am not alone it seems in my desire to make the P6 more outrageous! :D
Merry Christmas all
GUY.

Thanks everybody, I'm going off the whitewall thing (it was going to be a narrow band by the way). I understand these trims fit as THEDOCTOR suggests, and have heard similar comments from other sources, also flapping about at speed, and I do worry about the tyres staying on during fast manouvers. Shame you cannot get high performance tyres with the low performance trims (US Cooper tyres sell whitewall tyres, but they are not H rated).

Side pipes, you now I might just do it, some narrow "Lake pipes" give that 70's "Street Machine " look I coverted 25 years ago at "Steel City" cruises. Thrush pipes are too uncouth (anybody got some ?). I'll post a .wav file when I do it Guy. Shame Blackpool is so far away.
How about white lettering on the tyres..............

Alloys...good luck Alimorg, never thought of Jeep. Range Rover changed thier stud pattern when they started bringing out the interesting wheels (as far as I know). Its all in the offset, wide wheels can go in, not much space to go out. I had some nice Buick wheels, right everything but they stuck out too much. In the end I was offered some 70's Wolfrace Mag slots via this site, they did the job for Ron (195/70's by they way, had to fit new springs to "jack up" the rear so they fitted).

:)

Guy

Happy Christmas

There is no way that I will let a Kiwi beat an Aussie! The fact that my wife is a Kiwi just makes it more important! I have see the car in your picture and it is a quite brutal bit of kit. My car will be going the whole hog with wide arches and fat rubber plus a set of dual pipes exiting in front of each wheel!
Time is against me at the moment, whilst I have the engine and gearbox in the workshop I dont have a donor body to butcher, or the time off work. My wife has also started "asking" when her TR3A will be started ??? and if it will be done in time for the Targa Tasmania in 2006. So perhaps I should keep her happy first. I will keep you all updated as soon as I start. Still cant seem to get pictures to work.
Merry Christmas all
GUY.
