right...i`ve got the stainless exhaust from my 2000 tc listed on ebay...someones just mailed saying they never did a tc auto and so i need to know really what i have because the exhausts are all different!

the car is regsitered as an sc...so at some time its either had an engine swap or just the entire head..so i`ve maybe even got a 2.2???

where abouts will the engine number be so i can somehow see what was put in???

It's true that the factory never made a TC auto, so either your car was an SC auto that has had a TC head fitted to the engine, or a complete 2000 or 2200TC engine fitted. Engine number is on a lip on the top of the block which sticks out below the large timing chest bung IIRC. It should have "2.2" cast in the head if it's one of those, and that would have to be on a 2.2 block. Some pics would be handy.

just one thing i did notice..when i took of the exhaust there was a bracket on it very close the downpipe end at the side of the autobox, but it wasnt attatched to anything?...could i have an exhaust for a manual tc??

You must have the TC manifold and front pipe if it's a TC, that bracket (down under the starter) is for the SC's. After the front pipe that fits to the manifold, the rest of the system is all the same. (If it's not an early car)

so do i have an sc exhaust fitted to a tc then???

Sort of,...the rear and intermediate silencers will be the same as the TC, the manifold is from a TC,....it,s the bit between the manifold and first silencer that will differennt,(around the gearbox)

The TC front pipe will not fit the auto because the gearbox sump gets in the way,(wider transmission tunnel), I found this out when i converted Hermione to TC

The first pic shows the manifold joint, the bend in the front pipe is from the standard TC system,(behind the joint is the SC mounting minus the rudder)

This pic shows where the TC pipe was cut , and a new link pipe was made to get around the gearbox sump

This pic is the original SC auto pipe that tucks in behind the gearbox, there should be a short silencer at the end of this pipe but i done away with it and made a straight pipe instead,

This pic shows where the short resonance silencer should be, the pipe that disappears is a standard s/s TC/SC silencer

Looking at it from the front

It doesn't really matter what engine you have fitted (2000 or 2200),you will still have to have the centre section around the gearbox made,

i was just worried someone would buy my exhaust and it wouldnt fit their tc...but as the manual gearbox has a smaller sump then it should still fit a manual car??...am i right??

i`m not doing this to promote my item (would have done it days ago  )but its ebay number is 120310203444,theres a pic of the exhaust there...jon
