Ive just got my 72 P6 v8 and am looking to join a club. I have seen that there are two clubs for them, do I join both or is one bigger than the other etc. What are the bennefits of either one. Thanks

Join this one. Better forum. 8) Although I need to renew my membership, whoops......

The question could be, which one is this one? :) I thought this Forum was independantly run now, but I could be wrong :|

You are right. This forum is totally independent of any car club.

You have to join the one that is right for you. Decide what you want a club to do, what you want out of your club, do your homework and join up!

A terribly tricky question for a moderator!

I think you've already made the key decision, which is to join us on here. This site should give you all the technical help both with workshop practice and with spares sourcing.

As Brian says, no club affiliation here and I wouldn't dare to single out one club over the others. I'm a member of the the P6 Rover Owners Club, the Rover P6 Club and The Rover Sports Register. The latter has the most eagerly awaited magazine, but relatively little P6 news, the other two each have their strengths. Check out their web sites to start with.

Do your research!!
Decide what you want out it,how active is your local group!!!
Ask them all for a freebie magazine to read and see how good they are!!
And remember since the start of 2010,, one of them is technically now run as a business and not a club!!
Thats a reason many of us are members of the club featured in our signatures!
And one of the reasons this forum went independant! THANKFULLY!!! :D

IMHO!!!
On this forum we have the best people available online for problem solving, finding spare parts, even a helping hand if you are close to a fellow owner and enthusiast!!

BTW!!!

A WARM WELCOME TO THE ROVER FORUM FAMILY!!!

Thanks for the replies, I kind of thought the the forum was independant so i was hoping to find out a little about the clubs from you chaps/chapesses and your experiences. Ive been part of the classic scene for many years with Jaguars and Triumphs, still got the triumph bug but this is my first venture into Rover terretory. I recently went to the Rover Owners Club meeting a Elseker barnsley and it seemed to be a very small club, certainly a small turnout and was wondering what they offer as a club. Have looked at both websites and they btoh seem to have good websites and offer good services. So you people are now part of my research plan :D wasnt sure if one club was bigger than the other, kind of wondered why there was two clubs for the same maodel car too.

Hi Casper.

Unfortunately individuals cant really elaborate in great detail on the forum,as correctly it wouldnt be allowed!
Theres always 2 sides or more to any story, scandal, heresay, rumour, etc!!
However, maybe if you started a poll with 3 ways to vote,ie the 2 main choices + a both option!!! Give it say a fortnight or a month to run,and maybe you will get an idea of support for 1 or the other!
AND!!
As you are in Doncaster, you have one of the well known P6 suppliers, and a great guy to glean info from on your doorstep!
A good idea to get in touch with Ian and if he is not to busy, have a good chat over a cuppa if he can spare the time!

Heres his parts web site! http://www.rover-classics.co.uk/

Hi guys, as this is an independent forum, and I particularly want to avoid any club discussions, I would rather we leave this topic as-is, I think the basics have been covered and I'm happy to leave it there.

I would simply suggest that prospective club members checkout each club's magazine and asses membership benefits, maybe visit some shows where each club has a presence and talk to the people there. If there is a local meeting, you can usually go along without being a member (they should be keen to sign you up afterall).

Above all - use the forum, it's free and open to all !
