Where has my sill gone?

After getting WOW 847J started yesterday I thought I would bite the bullet and removed the O/S sill cover. The rust has eaten away more than I thought but is confined to the wheel arch areas. The hole in the front floor appears to have been made by a jack as the metal was bent in towards the hole in time honoured fashion. Is that the location of the F/O/S jacking point?

I will obviously have to replace the entire sill and probably have to patch around the sill as well. The problem is, I can't weld. Does anybody know of a quality, cheap welder in the Hemel Hempstead/South Herts area?

I've made that mistake. There are some jig mounting brackets on each corner of the floor pan which are used during production. They certainly aren't jacking points though and if the steels weak the jack will go through. I jack under the front crossmember at the front and at the outer ends of the rear crossmember where it joins the body at the back. (Just ahead of the front wheels). There is a jacking pad right at the back in the middle but it's too high to get a decent lift normally.

try Graham Ransley of Brookland motorcraft/Turnpike motors in London Colnet tel 01727 828292. He's got my P6 in at the moment and knows them inside out. He's always got a few there.
