What Causes the Wiper delay Not To Work

Think the title says it all. My car is a 1972 P6 3500 and the wiper delay has never worked and i thought i would look at it one lazy day if someone can point me in the right direction

Either you need to renew the bit of sponge in the mechanism itself - reasonably easy job, pull out the clips and input a piece of domestic type sponge, et voila...

Or there is airleak in the the pipe to the steering column. Not as easy to fix, sadly.

Probably worth cleaning all the connectors too as they're bound to be a bit mucky.
