we;ve been having a nightmare of a time with my wifes car, it started playing up with a suspected EGR problem a few weeks back, we took it to a garage (recommended to us by our local regular garage) who dicked about, replaced some components and charged us £1000 for the privilage, the car worked for a day then returned to its previous issues, they took it back in yesterday and short of spending more money it was a pointless experiment in chucking good money after bad. so today i picked it back up and it was completely undriveable, managed to get it home though and then phoned the garage back and kicked off at them, they said they would call back when the boss is in.

so we went off to look at replacement cars and agreed on a new shape fiesta, which we are collecting tonight.

in the mean time the garage called us back, they have refunded the price of parts from the repair so we got £700 back from them (jolly nice... i retract all my foul names i have called them) and they left the £700 component on the car!so now the car only stands us £300!

took some photos, advertised it on ebay as spares or repair for £550....... and it sold within 10minutes of the advert going online!

so now we feel less angry at the car now! obviously we are not counting our chickens until ebayer collects and pays but still a good days wheeler dealering!

Doesn't excuse the fact that the garage didn't know what they are doing
How on earth do these firms get recommended ?

not a clue to be honest, wont be returning thats for sure!

in other news what part of "spares or repair" in the title and this little gambit in the decription "hence why it is sold as spares or repair and not driveable in its current state, it will likely need to be trailered/towed as MOT/Tax expires 31 May 2013" gave the slightest suggestion that the car could be driven away? bloody ebay morons, just waiting for the Non paying bidder procedure to go through so I can relist it!

Hi, some people need 10 mins to read that sentence, so he probably didn't bother.
