I joined another forum the other day to ask for some help on a problem im having with the MG midget im working on, im not going to name the forum but what a bunch of weirdos!
I asked for a simple bit of advice regarding the fact the drivetrain is bits of mg/morris/triumph etc and im struggling to find the component im wanting and talk about lighting the blue touch paper
You should contact this person (no contact details given)
then the next response was Dont contact the person above (who you dont have contact details for) because hes a cowboy
followed by another person backing up the above statement
followed by another person stating the above was false
repeated the above with a bit of argueing
followed by a someone telling me that its upto me what i do but i should be wary of cowboys (by this time id long since zoned out and sort therapy

what a bunch of weirdos!

atleast we are weird in a good way!

cheeky stuff :p

No excuse for the stuff happening in the first post. Sometimes forums get all hung up on particular member arguments - not good. Have to say I've not experienced it here!

What's the question you asked? Might be able to help, I'm an MG weirdo too but I don't have a beard or own ANY sandals

I was asking for help regarding the 1500 engine and gearbox and which gearbox bits are interchangeable (im having a nightmare finding some spares!

I think gearbox bits are generally non-interchangeable between the two gearbox types (pre 1500 and post 1500). The box in the 1500 is a modified marina box - places like Moss have useful exploded diagrams online that might help. It's not too dissimilar from a non-overdrive spitfire box as well, perhaps comparing the exploded pictures might help with spotting the difference!

here's a link for the insideyparts of a midget 1500 'box : http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... dexID=1324

and one for a spitfire: http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... dexID=2921

You could also give this chap a ring, http://www.magicmidget.co.uk/, his website's not fantastic but he's a nice bloke :)

yeh thats pretty much all ive found, the parts ive bought (one from a spitty gearbox and one from the marina type MG box) seem to look right, ill find out on thursday when I can compare the parts side by side, bit of a knightmare the 1500 running gear.... should have done a k series conversion!
