WANTED Castle NUTS

Hi

I have to change a ball joint rubber before the dreaded "controle technique". I have the ball joint rubber (thank you Rover Classics) Hopwever getting hold of a "castle nut" is a bit of a problem. (I suspect the original will have to be cut off nd so would rather start the job with a spare!)

If anyone has a couple of good ones spare and would like to part with them for a fee and postage to Belgium - I would be very grateful.

There seem to be a good few on ebay - If anyone can advise the tech spec of the castle nuts for the front suspension and ball joints - I'll get some into stock

Is there really no one who can advise the size of castle nut required for the ball joints on the front suspension? I may not be great on technical terms - but I am happy to get my hands dirty to keep my P6's on the road.

Unfortunately - if I dont get hold of new "nuts" - then she will be off the road.

Im not asking for a freebie - - well I am - free info!! - But once I have that I will buy if neccessary in bulk - just to be able to use 2 nuts!

If you can't get the castle nut off using heat and WD40 if needed , can you get a replacment nyloc nut ?

Most replacement joints come with Nylocs rather than castle nuts now, as for the thread type and size I'm sure I remember what it is, but would rather check to be certain before I post it.

I agree ,Nylocs are the way to go, i think the thread pitch is 1/2 - 20 UNF,.....sound familiar :wink:

Nut size is: 5/8 - 18 UNF for top & bottom ball joints.

You're probably not on the original balljoints but for what its worth the 3500/S Parts List gives the bottom balljoint nuts as 5/8"-18 UNF - as Roly said. The tops are given as 9/16" UNF up to Chassis No 45110683B, and the same nut as the bottom for 45110684B onwards.







I'll 2nd the Nyloc route..think that should read 3rd..or 4th!
