Value and insurance

My insurance is due next month and was wondering how I go about getting an insurance valuation as I have spent a few quid on it since.

Thanks Pete

You can self-value under a certain amount (£10K?) with some insurance companies but if you want a certified one then you need a valuation from an official of one of the owners clubs.

It's not worth a huge amount but I have no idea what value to put on it, I always think my cars are worth very little but then love everyone else's cars.

what sought of value should I tell my insurance

put up a picture or two in current condition and we'll try and help?

The clubs are both good at this sort of thing. Most values are agreed value with you providing photos to prove it. Really it should reflect the cost of either buying an identical car or buying one and then bringing it up to current condition.

What price would you expect to pay if you bought a car in the same condition as yours from a dealer?
I look at mine, then look at whats for sale at dealers, and private around the country, then add £1000 just to be safe!
Some ins companies will do a reinstate as is policy,"wont get written off so easily" as well for an extra 25% or so of the premium!
My current multicar policy with FJ allows me to self value each of my 3 cars up to £15k,anything over needs a club valuation certificate!
They will require recent photos to back up your valuation every 2-3 yrs.

my car is sought of unique so does that devalue it as may not be totally original or will it still hold a similar value, I don't have many pictures of the car since all the work has been done other than this off my phone and there is one on the facebook page of it at Enfield

interior hasn't changed

After looking at your pics and reading about it,if it were mine I would put a value of at least £5k possibly £6k on it for insurance!
Its probably better to slightly overvalue it, :) so if in the event of a claim there is haggle room, rather than undervalue it,get an instant payout and end up loosing out!

Discuss!!

It does look nice. Originality doesnt seem to be as important on p6s as some other classics so dont worry about that.... It's an S1 so it's a little higher than S2s from what i understand.

I'll PM Nick Dunning and ChrisW and get them to look as they're more in tune with values than me...

Pilkie's in the right ball park, and I have seen the car, fleetingly, I'd go for £5k and see if they wear it.

More than happy to do a proper P6 Club valuation as/when.

Cheers
Nick

Thanks, when did you see it nick ? was it when my brother had it, hopefully looks a lot better now just want to get the chrome done over the winter.
