v8 trouble

ok so still having trouble with car losing power so have had another play today, balanced the carbs, took it for a spin still bogging out when i put my foot down, so i pulled choke out a bit and hey presto car is back to its old self and runs fine, so i'm guessing the choke cuts air and supplies more fuel, so am i running lean???? thinking about it i installed cone filters and chopped the back box off to see what it sounded like, so tomorrow the std filter setup will go back on to see if i'm finally on the right path, opinions please!

Hi, Yes, Aftermarket cone filters are less restrictive by varying degrees than the standard filters so you're weakening the mixture which pulling the choke compensates for. Putting the standard filter back on should return it to normal, If you want to continue with cone filters (cutting the end off equals no filter) then you will have to re needle the carbs to richen up the mixture.
