V8 still cutting out!

I put a post on here a month or so ago to try and solve a mysterious fault with my '75 V8 Auto. Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I can drive sometimes for 50 or so miles when without warning the engine just dies, all dash lights come up & rev counter falls to zero. There is no jerking at all when this happens. I just pull over, select 'N' and the engine fires instantly and then carries on as though nothing has ever happened. I've changed the coil, condensor etc to no avail. Trouble is it's getting dangerous...it cut out in the outside lane of dual c/way last time! The car can be warm or hot when this happens & there appears to be no pattern, it can then go for 30 or 40 miles before happening again! HELP...

I think I offered a few suggestions at the time
Have you checked all the connections from the battery thro' the ignition switch to the engine? Is the terminal on the main power feed under the driver's carpet tight and not shorting out?
This sort of problem can be a real headache ,it's easier if it conks out completely

I think it could either be a faulty or dirty starter inhibitor switch on the gearbox. Good luck.

Have you changed the AC fuel filter recently?

My 75 V8 auto did the same thing the other day - cut out for a few seconds then sprang back into life as I was doing about 50mph. Thinking there might be crud in the fuel tank, changed the filter and so far so good.

erratic behaviour like this points to ignition problem. have you checked fuses, loose conections? igniton switch? when you have cut out, is the power to the igntion coil?
