V8 Propshaft

I have a bit of a knock when I first pull off in my car, it may be the propshaft, are the universal joints easy to change or is it worth getting another prop.

The joints are easy enough to change, but there are a lot of other things that could be causing that problem so a thorough inspection would be a good idea. There are 6 u/j's in the drive train, and three mounts for the diff, plus the diff bearer plate and exhaust to have a look at for starters.

it has a nock which feels like its from the trans tunnel when first pulling away and a vibration at speed so assumed propshaft to be the first thing to look at.

When you remove the tailshaft, also inspect for circumferential rotation of the sliding joint. It should be very minimal indeed, however, if it has not been greased for some time, that could also be a possible cause.

The lubrication interval is every 6000 Miles (10,000km) or 6 months, which ever comes first!

When mine did that it was the front diff mount.
