V8 carb (HIF6) and inlet manifold question

Hi.

Could anyone please tell me:
1, what direction do i need to turn the carb mixture screw in order to richen it?
2, Which cylinders are fed by which carb? I think that each carb feeds the end cylinders and the opposite two, but i am not 100% sure.
I need this info so that i can colortune the engine and make sure that i turn the correct carb screw that corresponds with the appropriate cylinders.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Glen.

Clockwise.

Each carb feeds the end two cylinders on its own side, and the centre two cylinders on the opposite side.

NS carb: 1467

OS carb: 2358

Tried to set my mixture with 2 colortunes but results were pretty dodgy! Managed to get 1 side to a blue colour from orange but turning screws didn't seem to do much to flame colour.
Now think I am going to try the lift the piston method because according to that method both carbs are still running weak. i.e. the engine slows and stays slow when I lift the pistons a little, the opposite reaction is to rich and a slight speed up and then returning to tickover is the ideal setting allegedly? Need to have a fiddle tomorrow if I ever get released from jury duty!!

Hi Tammyboy,

Yes by lifting each pin in turn, the idle speed should increase slightly and settle back pretty much to where it was originally. Don't forget that turning the mixture screws sets the idle mixture only, the taper of the needles determines the mixture for all points off idle.

Cheers Ron hope to have an hour tomorrow to do some tinkering. Just fitted richer needles to go with the other engine changes over the years . Needles were recommended by Rich using his knowledge of the su advisor computer program he has and car has a lot more oomph above 2000 revs.
