V8 alternator bracket

Which variety? Early P6B with alternator in front of cam cover, or later P6B / SD1 with alternator out to the side of the engine?

Those are not the same. The P6 has two types, for the 11AC and 17ACR alternators, both with the alternators above the bracket, the SD1 has a different type altogether with the alternator hanging from underneath the bracket.
