Using a remote engine starter

I'm thinking of getting a remote engine starter but the leads won't reach the battery in the boot

I thought i could use a separate battery up front. Would this be ok leaving the original battery connected?

Why do you want to connect direct to the battery? There are good 12v supplies and earths under the bonnet.
