That transmission hole is quite remarkable, was he intending to bring the gearbox into the car through that hole ?? Wonder what your local MOT man would make of that :?

Reading, PA is the ideal place to have it.. you can ship it straight out of Philly into the UK. Even with shipping and the purchase price, I doubt you'd break the £3k mark based on the one that I brought over the other year.

People used to believe you couldn't remove the gearbox without taking the engine out so they'd cut the tunnel out
Also done on E Type and Mk 2 jags in their "banger" days
