Hi Brenten,

It's good to see the Rover appear in a local magazine. I expect poor maintenance contributed to overheating problems in Summer, although the original 2 core radiators didn't help. Fine for a cool climate, not much chop here though!

Ron.

My Rover ran with a two core radiator up until 2005, having covered around 194,000 Miles (312,000km) at that point. Temp would creep up during warm weather, i.e over 30 degrees C when out on the highway, the needle usually sitting just past the '5'. In slow moving traffic, much higher, at the top of the green. My Rover has no air con, so the temp would have been made worse had it been in place.

A 3 core radiator won't cure the problem though, but it does provide more in reserve. Having to run the 10.5 : 1 engine at TDC, which is extremely inefficient I feel is a major contributor to the overheating problem.

Ron.

Yes, as you say, probably sufficient cooling capacity without A/C, but throw it into the mix with a high comp motor and a definite recipe for trouble.
Mine is only the 9.35(from memory), and has no prob with overheating even on the hottest of QLD days...although I wouldn't be as confident with the 2 core rad.

rover didnt make the marauder,rich

I think that statement could be argued very easily. Rover themselves didn't make the car, however, senior Rover engineers did.

At the time, there was very little difference between one and t'other.
