A few months ago, I picked up a new project from ebay, and after flying up to Edinburgh, I drove it back down to Bedfordshire.
The idea was that as my estate chassis was too far gone to save, I would move the estate pod across. I've now decided that I don't want to do this, and am thinking of either selling the car as is, with a load of spares, or finishing it off. The project that it replacing it is a series 1 Jaguar XJ6 which will go alongside my other P6B and XJS.
The car at the moment is as follows:
1972 P6B tax exempt, MoT until approx May 2010
Engine runs fine, and has had all heater hoses replaced by me as half of the jubilee clips blew once it arrived home as they were all corroded.
Gearbox/mechanicals are all fine. It completed the journey from Edinburgh to Beds without any problems, although the wipers have since stopped working. Probably just the fuse.
Yellow in colour with fibreglass from wings and some rust on the lower doors
Sills look okay from a quick check
Loads of paperwork with it, including old MoT certs
Now I've got four replacement green doors to go on it, so they will be fitted - they have period door mirrors as well
I've fitted two steel wings, in primer but will need to be cleaned up properly
Also fitted NADA bonnet, NADA s1 grille with ice-lert and all of the switches on the dash
Have pair of NADA bumpers to go with the car, but not yet fitted and replacement front valance as the one on there isn't perfect
NADA centre console with leather gear-gaiter also fitted, and have NADA door bins to go with the car, although they're in black and the interior is beige
Front ET headrests, or the teardrop ones that came with the car
Have also got original yellow bonnet, but up to whomever I sell it to as to whether they take the NADA one, or the s2 one
I also have an original steel roof with steel sliding sunroof in the shed to go with it, and a brand new NOS bootlid with touring kit hole. I've got the parts for that, with the exception of the rod that holes the bootlid up, and a wheel cover
Currently on 14" Rostyles, but they'll be coming off as I want to use them on OXC. I have four replacement steel wheels with NADA trims, but they'll need new tyres.
The ignition switch has some issues with the return spring when starting the car, but it does start and I've got a replacement column with keys for the car, and it takes about 10mins after starting before you can drive off - doesn't like driving when cold as stalls, but that's just because it needs a good tune-up
Has anyone got any ideas on this, or interested in taking this project on?
I'll also be stripping a NADA P6B once this car has gone, so if anyone wants a NADA engine/gearbox/diff, they'll also be available, and I have four air-con sets, and only need one or two, so will sell two of them if requested..
