toe in

Hi and hello.

Just joined the P6 owners club and the forum as I have recently purchased a 1973 monza red 2000 SC P6.

I have a fairly long list of jobs to do although thankfully nothing to serious, but I would appreciate some advixe if anyone can help. Firstly what should be the correct idle speed. Currently the idle speed is usually 1000 rpm or even as high as 1100 rpm. Also When the car is jacked up from the front the two wheels toe in is this normal.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Welcome and i hope that you will enjoy both your P6 and the forum.

If it's a single carb model then it should tick over at 650-700 rpm. TC's normally require some more in order to run smooth.

When you say toe in i suppose that you mean positive camber, where the wheel bottoms lean to the centre of the car and the top sides outwards. Due to the P6 front suspension architecture the camber angles change a lot with suspension travel. From slight negative when the front springs are somewhat sagged (like my TC!) to wild positive when the front is jacked up as you have already noticed.

On the other hand toe in is something totally different, i.e. when the front sides of the wheels point towards the center.

Thanks for the reply demetris. your assumption is right I was referring to toe in as bottom of wheels pointing inwards to centre of car and top pointing outwards. So happy to hear that this is normal. Now just have to adjust idle speed

Thanks
