Picking up my 1969 2000TC at long last! A couple of week's elbow grease and I should be up and running. I'll posts photos later on once I have it on the drive.

Annnnd, it here!

I had found a local towing company that was classic friendly. the driver was great, very careful with the car and gentle both getting it out of the garage and back onto my drive at the other end. He even took a couple of photos for their facebook page (search for Roach's Towing there to see them).

It was a little challenging to move as the brakes need work, the battery is flat (it hasn't moved for 2 years due to Rowland's health playing him up). And Row's garage is only about 15" wider than the car!

Anyway, here are the pics:






So, next things to do are:

Finish rebuilding the calipers from the old Rover (RIP Rolly, you're sorely missed). This is nearly done. Just waiting on new pistons to arrive from Mark Gray via the post.
Change oil, coolant, and brake/clutch fluid
Fresh petrol
Fit rebuilt calipers, brake servos and new brake hoses
Bleed the above and enjoy!

Oh, and think up a suitable name.

I think I'll start a little something on the member's project section to show how it's going.

One result while going through the spares stash in Rowland's garage was finding the original purchase documentation.

Rowland bought the car brand new in '69. He's been after me to buy it for a few years and it's only recently Kim and I have been in a position to take him up on the offer. It's rather cool to know the whole history of the car since purchase. The Malibu sticker in the rear screen was from when his daughter went to Pepperdine Uni back in the 70's. They are lovely family and one of the deals we made was to take Row out in once it's back on the road.

Funny you should say that. Our next door neighbor came out to see the car and commented on how cool it looked.
 
In the UK the reaction is usually quite predictable - my dad/grandad used to have one like that. Not impossible in the States of course, but far less likely.
 
Yes, very few people here know that Rover was the parent company for Land Rover. Not surprising really considering that they haven't had a presence here for decades. Having said that, there are quite a few still around considering how they only sold a few thousand back in the 60's and 70's
 
I think you're right. I wasn't crazy about the side reflectors at first but they are growing on me now.
 
Absolutely stunning car, and particularly striking, in Zircon Blue! I imagine that it'll turn a lot of heads once on the road!
 
Nice car! Looks like not much to do! How is it for interior and the usual potential rusty areas?

The interior looks brand new. It has black flat pleat seats and was fitted with factory AC. The compressor and condenser are not on the car any more. To be honest I'm not a big fan of the Delenaire unit in the center console. It's ugly and takes up a load of space. I do have a standard console and might fit it for now. I'm on the fence about it and know that Demetrius' write up on his AC rebuild has tempted me too. As soon as summer temps hit I might well go for getting it working. It's on the back burner for the moment.

Normal rust spots are good on this car. Rowland would hose down the underside of the car during the winter to keep rust at bay. North NJ uses a lot of salt in the winter. There is some rust in the boot floor, but I think POR 15 will see to that as it hasn't perforated yet.
