This is Albert - P6 V8

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've just bought the P6 V8. It's been christened "Albert".

I'm not sure if there are many here in Jersey. This is my first Rover and I've always loved the V8. It's the kid in me I guess!
The car was restored about 20 years ago and I have some pics of how far they went. It was pretty extensive, so I'm not expecting any corrosion problems for a while.
Mechanically it's great though it does run rich. which i'll be getting on with soon.
It goes well enough though I'd like more power of course. Who wouldn't?
Aside from that I'm sure it will consume hours of my time which I'm more than happy to give.

Oh by the way, I want to change the wheels back to original so if anyone is selling some.......

Welcome to the forum

A very nice Rover that you have there. What is the traffic like on Jersey? I don't imagine that there would be many places where you actually could go fast, based on my memory of "Bergerac".

Running rich will certainly reduce the power, much in the same way as running too lean, except the former won't melt pistons etc.

Jersey is sort of unique and speed limits are low. All very Bergerac. Well I say "speed" limits.
The fastest you can go on this Island is 40mph. In some places 20mph.

I'm going to order some service parts this evening. I'll fit those and then tune the SU's. That should help

Looking at some videos on Youtube there are some nice V8's out there. Most of the cars have gone big , 3.9's and 4.6's.

Do you know if anyone races their car out there?
