The British Car museum at Haumoana - Well worth a visit

This vast building is located about 20 km northeast of Hastings (Hastings NZ that is) The owner clearly believes in not only quality, but quantity as well. Many of the exhibits are in remarkably good condition. Others are absolute wrecks. I recall a 1973 Rolls Royce and a remarkable 1952 Bentley which looked like new. There was at least six Morris Minors, most of which seemed to be in various stages of decay.there are Austins dating back to 1933. After over an hour viewing exhibits, we finally found what I can only describe as "Rover corner". Despite the gloom and the dust, I found a couple of P4's and two early P6 2000s. the P6s were in such poor condition that 'er indoors did not recognise them until I pointed out the distinctive SS trim around the windscreen. Also the Union Jack is bravely flying from the roof if in the unlikely event you lose your way!

A decayed car with all the moss & wildlife removed can be a thing of beauty, as long as you don't expect to drive it home. I like decayed industrialism, the sort of thing Fred Dibnah used to show us so well.

I forgot to add that The British Car Museum at Haumoana is owned by one man. I have also learnt that in addition to the large number of vehicles in this vast building, there are many more out the back awaiting undercover storage.

As far as I can make out, he does not tinker with his cars. If you are considering moving here and have either a trade or a qualification it should not be too difficult. We prefer immigrants from "traditional sources". I am not too sure about the cars though. The freight would be very expensive but although there are some hurdles, you could probably import them. Better to buy a good P6 locally. Have a look at www.trademe.co.nz there are some good P6s there and they usually go for much less than what they hope to get. Yes, I know Waipu, about 600km north of here. It is a delightful little place. I recall drinking ale at the local a few years ago.
