TC Choke cable

My carburettors have been on and off so many times during the last few months that the wire strands on my choke cables are fraying badly. Connecting the frayed cables to the carb linkage is now a very frustrating exercise. .. My queries are, is there an alternative to these stranded wire connectors such as perhaps nylon or single wire? Is there any adjustment for length of the choke cables, which would enable me to snip off the frayed ends?
I have tried to dismantle without success the black tube which connects the two choke cables to a single cable located under the bonnet at the rear left side. Does this offer any adjustment?..... regards georgecook

Sadly, no really positive answers to your questions. However, one bright spot is that having the mixer box (the black tube thing) you can take the short carb cable to a bicycle shop and they just may be able to fix things up for you with a new inner cable.

The black tube has two clips that hold the three cables in. After removing them, you should be able to unscrew the single cable end and slide the cables out. I'm working from memory here, so I can't recall if you have to detach the box from it's bracket to get enough movement to accomplish that.

As Vern suggests, you can get some new cables of the correct thickness from a bicycle shop, and file carefully the head on the end to make them fit into the "mixer box" or cable divider.

Ifyou have a round choke knob you can get them pretty readily on ebay or from p6 suppliers... If it's hooked it's really difficult to find them.

I fitted an aftermarket round knob cable by the steering column and left the hooked one on the console because of that. In my case it was also because I had switched to HIF6s and the hook cable wasn't suitable for them.

Good Idea regarding the bike shop, should be able to sort something out there... Unable to dismantle the black tube choke connecter. Have removed the 2 small wire clips and unscrewed the single wire end cover , but unable to get the thing apart. Have used quite a bit of force but worried I may damage something....georgecook
